Praise for Peter Eom
“Peter Eom is a terrific cellist with flawless technique and sensitive musicianship. In addition, he is really wonderful at connecting and engaging with all parties involved; fellow musicians, administrators and the public! I recommend Peter without the slightest hesitation.”
– Lawrence Golan, conductor of Bayerische Philharmonie, Yakima Symphony Orchestra, York Symphony, and Denver Philharmonic
“a flowing, lyrical quality of sound.”
— Gary Hoffman
“a remarkable cellist and musician.”
— Colin Carr
“vivid, musical, nuanced, and spectacular...”
— Augusta Read Thomas
“It is hardly possible to play music with more agility, purity of intonation, and sureness of taste: The Canadian Rolston String Quartet . . . founded in 2013 and winners of international competitions, delivered Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s e minor Quartet Op. 44 No. 2, Jörg Widmann’s Hunt-Quartet and Antonin Dvorak’s famous Op. 96 with such impetus and such sensitivity to the instrumental balance that one could only be left in a state of awe.”
— Harald Eggebrecht, Süddeutsche Zeitung
Rolston String Quartet, Munich Allerheiligen Hofkirche
“Playing with remarkable accuracy and grace, and with a full understanding of the variety in character that lies beneath the pleasant exterior of his music, this was a lesson in how Haydn might be performed and a reminder that he is truly one of the great composers of string quartet music.”
— Kenneth DeLong, Calgary Herald
Rolston String Quartet, Calgary ProMusica
About Peter Eom
Armed with a versatility of creative interests ranging from literature to fashion, cellist Peter Eom (pronounced “aw-m”) has been hailed for his “flowing, lyrical quality of sound” and “agility, purity of intonation, and sureness of taste.”
Eom was the sole recipient of the 2023 Rockefeller Brothers Fund and YoungArts NYC Creative Residency. Through their support, Eom will be premiering his interdisciplinary performance-piece, SEAMLESS, at NYC Fashion Week FW 2027.
Eom is active internationally as a soloist and is also the cellist of the Rolston String Quartet, first prizewinner of the 12th Banff International String Quartet Competition and heralded as “one of the very best in a quartet-rich age,” and the genre-defying experimental music collective The Happenstancers.
